Japanese folk houses
Japanese folk houses
This is a 10-volume set of photographs of Japanese folk houses published in 1958 by Yukio Futagawa, a pioneer in Japanese architectural photography. Futagawa is also known as an architectural critic who founded the architectural magazine "GA," published a complete collection of Frank Lloyd Wright's works, and introduced architects like Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, and Tadao Ando to the world.
This photobook set features a series of folk houses from various regions of Japan captured by Futagawa, showcasing the wisdom of the people living there and the unique characteristics of each environment. I believe these photographs, depicting the architecture's exterior, details, and environment, constitute one of the most outstanding series of architectural photography.
